William Faulkner’s Bear

Where vaguely or precisely was Faulkner’s bear?
Or where is it? Is it – was it – a real place?
An actual bear in an imagined land
or, other way around, a phantom bear
in what was forest then, now subdivision,
or something grand once, once upon a time?

  1. Your last two poems made me think of happy things. I like wisteria and especially the French word “glycine.” And The Bear of Faulkner’s stories and his books. God help us if certain people win our election! So sad the situation. Have a good fall. s lee
