  1. My singular memory of La Rambla is marching up it with a cadre of sailors on shore patrol duty during a port visit with the Sixth Fleet.  But your poem rings true with later memories of visits as a civilian. While we’re on the subject of Barcelona, I’m wondering if you’ve ever read any of Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s wonderful novels set in Barcelona, e.g., The Shadow of the Wind and The Angel’s Game.

    • Yes they are wonderful books. I read La sombra del viento (El cementerio de los libros olvidados, #1) and El Prisionero del Cielo (El cementerio de los libros olvidados #3)
